by Amazon Paprika Coated Peanuts Review: I Ate 7 Bags

Original upright photograph of by Amazon Paprika Coated Peanuts 170 g orange packet front

My verdict on by Amazon Paprika Coated Peanuts: 4.2/5 after seven bags. I bought eight 170 g bags across three orders in June/July and September 2026, paid €1.16 per bag, and have eaten seven, with one left. The appeal is straightforward: a relatively bold, pleasantly salty paprika flavour, a crunchy coating, and excellent value for the price I paid. They are not particularly hot, and I have not noticed an unpleasant artificial aftertaste.

But there are trade-offs: the coating leaves a lot of greasy paprika dust on my hands, the bag is not resealable, and a whole 170 g bag has sometimes left me with an uncomfortable stomach. I would buy them again as an occasional savoury snack, but not describe these fried coated peanuts as automatically healthy just because I sometimes choose them instead of sweets.

My actual test: I bought eight bags in three orders and ate seven full 170 g bags by October 13, 2026. Five bags were ordered June 21, two were described as a July purchase, and one on September 5; because the purchase dates were given out of order, I am not presenting a precise first-to-last consumption timeline. I normally eat these while watching a movie or when I want a small savoury snack. The packaging, ingredient-label, close-up and hand-held photographs below are my own, not stock images or a sponsored product shoot.

by Amazon Paprika Coated Peanuts, 170 g

Quick verdict: A tasty, crispy and very inexpensive salty snack with a noticeable paprika flavour but little real heat. Great when I want something savoury rather than sweet, provided I do not eat too much at once.

Best for: people who like crunchy coated nuts, bold paprika seasoning and cheap occasional movie-night snacks.

Not ideal for: people who want a clean, grease-free snack, prefer mild seasoning, need a resealable pouch or want to keep salt and calorie intake low.

What I like

  • Outstanding €1.16 purchase price per 170 g bag
  • Clear paprika seasoning without serious heat
  • Good saltiness, crunchy coating and nut centre
  • No unpleasant artificial aftertaste in my experience
  • Still crisp after opening when stored reasonably

What I would change

  • More orange powder and oily residue on fingers than most snacks I eat
  • The bag cannot be resealed
  • I sometimes feel stomach discomfort after a whole bag
  • A whole bag is very high in energy and salt
  • Occasional peanuts look darker or slightly blue-toned

Would I buy them again? Yes. The €1.16 price makes these a compelling occasional savoury snack for me. I would recommend trying a bag first rather than treating the whole 170 g as one serving.

How much did I actually pay?

My three orders all came out to €1.16 per 170 g bag. I received no sponsorship or review compensation. These are my historical 2026 purchase prices; they are not a guarantee of current Amazon pricing.

Purchase record Bags Price per bag Cost paid
June 21, 2026 5 €1.16 €5.80
A July 2026 purchase (day not confirmed) 2 €1.16 €2.32
September 5, 2026 1 €1.16 €1.16
Total 8 — €9.28

The unit price is about €0.68 per 100 g (€1.16 ÷ 1.7), or roughly €0.20 per 30 g. I think that is very good value for a ready-to-eat seasoned snack. I have eaten seven of the eight bags and have one remaining. Eating a product repeatedly is more informative about whether I really like it than a single first bite, although it is still personal taste—not a standardised taste panel.

Do they really taste of paprika?

Yes. For me the paprika flavour is quite strong and the seasoning is pleasantly salty. It is a well-seasoned savoury peanut snack, not a seriously spicy or hot one. I do not get a strongly artificial or unpleasant finish. The overall taste is good rather than something I would call the finest snack I have ever eaten—and at this low price I find it easy to enjoy.

The ingredient list also includes chipotle chilli powder, dried onion, paprika, tomato, white pepper and natural flavouring. Those are printed on my bag, but I cannot reliably separate each component by taste. Some individual peanuts in my bags have looked a little darker or bluish compared with the rest and still tasted fine to me. I cannot tell why their colour differs from appearance alone; if a snack ever has suspicious mould, an unusual smell or clear spoilage, do not assume it is safe just because other pieces tasted fine.

Crunch and coating: my favourite feature after the price

Each nut has a dough-style paprika coating. I like the contrast between the crunchy outside and the peanut inside. The pieces feel pleasantly crisp when chewed, and the snack has remained crunchy after opening during my usual use. I have not timed a multi-day shelf-life test or compared different storage conditions.

The downside of all that seasoned surface area is a messy eating experience: the coating leaves orange dust and a greasy feel on my fingers, more than most comparable snacks I have eaten. That is irritating when using a phone, computer or remote control during a film. It is a genuine usability weakness even though I like the flavour.

Packaging: easy to open, impossible to reseal

The 170 g pouch is straightforward to tear open. However, it has no resealable closure, and this is particularly annoying because a full bag is more than I want to eat in one sitting. A clip or transferring the remainder to a sealed container would be sensible if you plan to save it for later.

I have found the peanuts remain crunchy after opening in normal use, but this is not proof of how long they stay crisp under humid storage conditions. The packaging itself recommends a cool, dry place.

Is this a healthy alternative to candy?

It is a different kind of snack, not automatically a healthier one. I have personally bought these because I often eat too much sugary food and sometimes want something salty and satisfying instead. That is a real reason for my own preference, but these are fried coated peanuts containing added oil, starch, sugar and salt—not the nutritional equivalent of plain peanuts or vegetables.

To put portion size into perspective, these values come from the nutrition table on my exact 170 g paprika bag, not from a generic peanut entry.

Declared nutrition Per 30 g Per 100 g Approx. whole 170 g bag
Calories 151 kcal 504 kcal 857 kcal
Fat 9.6 g 32.0 g 54.4 g
Of which saturates 1.5 g 5.1 g 8.7 g
Carbohydrate 11.4 g 38.0 g 64.6 g
Of which sugars 2.0 g 6.5 g 11.1 g
Fibre 1.8 g 5.9 g 10.0 g
Protein 3.9 g 13.0 g 22.1 g
Salt 0.85 g 2.75 g 4.7 g

Whole-bag totals are approximate calculations from the per-100 g label values and are rounded. Per-30 g declarations are rounded separately by the manufacturer, so multiplication of the rounded 30 g column may differ slightly.

Nutrition table from my actual bag, including 151 kcal and 0.85 g salt per 30 g.

A full bag contains around 857 kcal and 4.7 g of salt. That is a substantial snack even though it contains relatively little sugar compared with many sweet treats. In my own experience, eating an entire bag can lead to stomach discomfort, which is why I would not recommend treating the entire packet as a single serving. The bag itself describes about five servings; a practical initial serving might be around 30–35 g. Your own tolerance and dietary needs may differ.

Ingredients, allergens and who should avoid them

The ingredient panel on my bag starts with peanuts (46%), followed by maize starch, wheat flour, sunflower oil, sugar, salt, modified maize starch, dextrose and seasonings. The snack is sold as paprika-flavoured coated and fried peanuts, not just salted raw nuts. It is described as vegetarian, but not gluten-free because it includes wheat flour.

Peanut-allergy warning: this product contains peanuts. The packaging also highlights gluten-containing cereals and says it is not suitable for people with nut allergies due to the manufacturing method. Follow the complete allergen and safety warnings on the current packaging; this review is not a substitute for food-allergy advice. Small children can choke on nuts.

How does it compare with other snacks I use?

I have not done a controlled side-by-side test with a named competing coated-peanut brand, so I will not invent a ranking or price comparison. The reasons I have repeatedly purchased this particular snack are the price, paprika taste and crunch. The reasons I do not want to eat a whole bag are the portion size and how salty and rich it feels.

For another type of inexpensive grab-and-go snack I have personally bought in bulk, see my PowerBar Protein+ Vanilla review after 90 bars. It serves a different purpose: a relatively small protein top-up, rather than a crunchy salty movie snack. One is not inherently healthier than the other just because it is marketed differently.

Who I recommend it to—and who should skip it

I recommend giving it a try if you like crunchy coated peanuts, enjoy a fairly strong paprika flavour without significant chilli heat and want an inexpensive occasional snack. I particularly like them when I am in the mood for savoury food rather than sweets. I would happily buy them again at a similar price.

I would skip them if orange powder on your fingers bothers you, if you need a snack you can reseal without accessories, or if you need to limit salt or energy intake. Anyone with a peanut allergy must avoid them. If you tend to eat an entire bag absent-mindedly, use a bowl and put the rest away instead of snacking straight from the pouch.

How I calculated my 4.2/5 editorial rating

I have eaten seven full bags, so my score reflects more than a one-time sample. Still, these are subjective scores based on my firsthand experience, not a laboratory result, customer-review average, or medical nutrition score. Price and flavour matter most for a snack like this, while messy handling and portion suitability reduce the result. The weights total 100%.

Criterion My score Weight Weighted points
Price and value 4.9/5 30% 1.470
Paprika flavour and overall taste 4.2/5 25% 1.050
Crunch and texture 4.5/5 20% 0.900
Packaging and eating convenience 3.1/5 15% 0.465
Nutrition and portion suitability 3.1/5 10% 0.310
Weighted total — 100% 4.195 → 4.2/5

Price and value (4.9/5): The three orders all cost €1.16 per 170 g bag, and I would buy it again.

Paprika flavour and overall taste (4.2/5): A fairly strong, pleasantly salty paprika taste, not particularly hot, with no unpleasant artificial aftertaste.

Crunch and texture (4.5/5): I like the crisp dough coating around the peanut, even after opening.

Packaging and eating convenience (3.1/5): Easy to open, but not resealable, and the coating leaves more grease and seasoning on my fingers than most snacks I eat.

Nutrition and portion suitability (3.1/5): An alternative to sugary treats for me, but 504 kcal and 2.75 g salt per 100 g mean a whole bag is a large, salty portion.

Calculation: (4.9 × 30%) + (4.2 × 25%) + (4.5 × 20%) + (3.1 × 15%) + (3.1 × 10%) = 4.195/5, rounded to 4.2/5. I would adjust the rating if a later bag had a quality problem or the price changed substantially.

Frequently asked questions

How many bags have I actually eaten?

I bought eight 170 g bags across three purchases and have eaten seven so far. One remains. The known purchases were in June/July and September 2026.

Are by Amazon Paprika Coated Peanuts spicy?

They have a fairly strong paprika seasoning, but I do not find them especially hot. I like the savoury taste and do not notice a particularly artificial aftertaste.

Do they leave paprika powder on your hands?

Yes, definitely. They leave noticeably more orange seasoning and a greasy coating on my fingers than most similar snacks I have eaten. That is one of my main criticisms.

Can you reseal the packet?

No. The bag tears open easily but has no resealable strip. I have found the contents stay crisp for my normal short-term use after opening, although I have not formally tested long-term freshness.

Is it okay to eat a full 170 g bag at once?

It has sometimes upset my stomach, so I personally would not recommend doing that. The whole package contains about 857 kcal and 4.7 g of salt, based on its label. The packet suggests roughly five portions.

Why do some peanuts look darker?

I have noticed occasional darker or slightly blue-toned pieces. They did not taste bad to me, but I cannot determine the cause from appearance alone. If a particular piece looks mouldy or smells abnormal, it is safer to discard it.

Would I buy them again?

Yes. At €1.16 per 170 g bag I find them excellent value, particularly when I want a salty and crunchy snack instead of something sweet.
