noblechairs HERO TX Review After 4 Years of Daily Use
I bought the noblechairs HERO TX Gaming Chair in TX Anthracite fabric new from Proshop in Denmark on August 4, 2022 for 3,490 DKK (about US$481 at the August 4, 2022 exchange rate). It has been my primary home office and gaming chair ever since.
I am 190 cm tall and weigh around 100 kg, and I specifically wanted a large chair because smaller office chairs had often felt cramped and had been less comfortable for my lower back. I use the HERO TX every day for studying, work, YouTube, movies and gaming, averaging roughly three hours per day.
My overall rating is 4.8/5. More than four years in, the gas lift still holds its height, the recline and tilt mechanisms still work, the wheels still roll properly, the seat has not noticeably sagged, and I have never needed a repair. The main downsides are the high price, the chair’s weight and the fact that assembly is easier with two people.

noblechairs HERO TX Anthracite — 4.8/5
Quick verdict: After more than four years of daily use, the HERO TX is still one of the most durable and comfortable pieces of furniture I own. The seat still feels essentially the same, the gas lift holds its height, the recline and tilt mechanisms remain stable, and I have never needed a repair.
Best for: taller or larger users, home-office users, gamers, and anyone who values a spacious, supportive chair over low weight or a low purchase price.
Main downside: it is expensive, heavy and easier to assemble with two people. If you only sit at a desk occasionally, the price is harder to justify.

- Very spacious fit for me at 190 cm / 100 kg
- Seat has not noticeably sagged or softened after 4+ years
- Recline and tilt still work smoothly
- Gas lift still holds height without sinking
- Fabric remains breathable and in very good condition
- Wheels still roll quietly on my wood floor
- No repairs or replacement parts needed
- High purchase price
- Heavy and awkward to transport when moving home
- Assembly is manageable alone but easier with two people
- Armrest tops have developed visible ridges over time
- Slight lightening/discoloration in parts of the fabric

This is a first-hand long-term review, not a laboratory ergonomics test. Any comments about my back or comfort describe my personal experience only; they are not a medical claim that this chair will prevent or treat back pain for other people.

Why I chose the HERO TX
I wanted something large and wide because I am 190 cm tall and around 100 kg. Smaller conventional office chairs had often felt less comfortable for me, especially around my lower back, and I already knew from previous experience that I generally preferred the shape and support of larger gaming chairs.
I chose the TX Anthracite fabric version mainly because I liked how it looked. That turned out to be a good practical choice too: the fabric has remained breathable, comfortable and surprisingly durable.
noblechairs currently specifies the HERO TX with breathable fabric, integrated adjustable lumbar support, enlarged 4D armrests, 60 mm casters, an 11° rocker mechanism and a backrest adjustable from 90° to 125°. The maximum recommended user weight is 150 kg. See the manufacturer’s current HERO TX specifications.
Comfort is still the main reason I would buy it again
The seat is medium-firm rather than sofa-soft. I do not sink deeply into it, but it also does not feel harsh.
What impresses me most is that I cannot detect a meaningful change in the seat compared with when it was new. I do not notice permanent depressions, loss of support or a softer worn-out feeling after more than four years of daily use.
I also find it comfortable regardless of how long I sit in it. For me, that includes long study, work or gaming sessions. Compared with smaller office chairs I used previously, I personally experience fewer problems with lower-back discomfort in this chair.

Fit for me at 190 cm and 100 kg
The HERO TX definitely feels like a large chair, which was exactly what I wanted.
The seat width and backrest height suit me well, and I still feel that there is extra space rather than being close to the limits of the chair. Interestingly, smaller people can still enjoy that spaciousness: my partner is much lighter than me and also likes sitting in it because there is so much room.
The manufacturer lists an outer seat width of 20.5 inches, a 35-inch backrest height and a maximum recommended weight of about 150 kg. Those numbers fit my experience that this is a genuinely substantial chair rather than a compact office seat.
I prefer it without the included pillows
The chair came with head and lumbar pillows, but I do not use them. I find the HERO TX more comfortable without them.
I also do not frequently adjust the built-in lumbar support itself. The adjustment I use far more often is the backrest angle.
The recline function is genuinely useful
I regularly change the backrest angle depending on what I am doing. For normal desk work I tend to keep it fairly upright or lean it back by perhaps 10–20 degrees. If I am watching a movie, I may recline it around 40 degrees.
The recline remains stable and easy to use after more than four years. The tilt/rocking mechanism also still feels good, and the tension has not noticeably deteriorated.

The gas lift still holds its height
One of the things I would expect to fail first on a heavily used chair is the gas lift. Mine still holds its position and does not slowly sink while I am sitting.
I may have assembled one of the height-control parts slightly incorrectly when I first built the chair, because the control takes a bit more effort to press than I think it should. It has nevertheless functioned normally for more than four years.

The armrests are comfortable, but the surface has aged
The 4D armrests offer more adjustment than I personally need. Once I found a comfortable position with them pointing straight ahead, I mostly left them there.
They are still stable and have a slightly soft feel that is comfortable under my elbows. The main sign of age is cosmetic: the top surfaces have developed some unusual ridges and are no longer perfectly smooth.

The Anthracite fabric has aged very well
After more than four years, I can see a small amount of lightening or whitening in parts of the fabric, particularly around the most-used areas.
Beyond that, the upholstery still looks remarkably good. I have not found holes, torn seams or serious wear.
I have spilled drinks on it occasionally and have simply cleaned the area with a cloth. I also find the fabric breathable; I do not normally become especially hot or sweaty while sitting in it.

Wheels and base after four years
I use the chair on a wood floor. The wheels still roll properly and quietly, and I have not had a functional problem with the base or casters.
The official HERO TX uses 60 mm casters with a nylon core and polyurethane coating, paired with an aluminum five-star base and Class 4 gas lift. noblechairs specifies the casters for both hard and soft flooring.
I cannot rule out some long-term floor wear from any heavy rolling chair, so if protecting a delicate wood floor is a priority I would still consider a chair mat.

Assembly is manageable alone, but two people would be easier
I assembled the HERO TX by myself. It was manageable, but the chair is large and heavy enough that lining up parts would have been easier with a second person.
I also think I installed part of the height-adjustment control imperfectly. It still works, but takes slightly more force than expected. That is one reason I would take more time with the instructions if I assembled another one.
It is heavy when you need to move it
The same substantial construction that makes the chair feel stable also makes it awkward to transport.
I have moved home several times with this chair. Nothing broke, but it is not something I would enjoy carrying up stairs or repeatedly loading into a vehicle.
noblechairs lists the HERO TX at 63.9 lb, so the weight is not just my impression: it is a genuinely heavy chair.
Durability: no repairs after more than four years
This is where the HERO TX most clearly justifies being more expensive than a disposable office chair.
I have not replaced the gas lift, wheels, armrests, fabric, tilt mechanism or any other component. The frame and backrest are still stable, and there is only a small amount of creaking at times.
After years of daily use plus several house moves, that is an excellent result in my experience.
Was 3,490 DKK good value?
Yes, although I still consider it an expensive chair.
I paid 3,490 DKK in August 2022. Using the historical exchange rate for that date, that was approximately US$481.
Four years later, I think the price was justified by how much I use the chair and how little it has deteriorated. If mine failed tomorrow, I would shop around to see whether something even better exists, but I would be very comfortable buying the HERO TX again.
For my own use, I could imagine paying as much as roughly 6,000 DKK if I could not find a better alternative, because I rely on the chair so heavily and already know this model works well for me.
Why I rate the noblechairs HERO TX 4.8/5
My overall rating is 4.8/5. I use the public Jon Tests rating method: each relevant criterion is weighted, the weights total 100%, and the final result is rounded to one decimal place.
| Criterion | Weight | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comfort & ergonomics | 30% | 5.0/5 | Comfortable for long sessions, spacious for me at 190 cm / 100 kg, and personally much better for my lower back than smaller office chairs I used before. |
| Adjustability | 15% | 4.8/5 | Recline, height and tilt remain useful and stable after more than four years. |
| Build quality & durability | 20% | 4.9/5 | No repairs, no sinking gas lift, no loose frame and no mechanism failure after years of daily use and several moves. |
| Fabric & breathability | 10% | 4.7/5 | Breathable and still in very good condition; only slight lightening/discoloration. |
| Armrests & controls | 10% | 4.4/5 | Comfortable and stable, but the armrest surface has developed ridges and one height control is somewhat stiff in my setup. |
| Size, mobility & weight | 5% | 4.1/5 | Excellent roomy fit, but the chair is heavy and awkward to transport. |
| Value for money | 10% | 4.5/5 | 3,490 DKK was expensive, but the comfort and 4+ years of trouble-free use justify it for me. |
| Weighted rating | 4.8/5 | 4.765 before rounding. | |
Who should buy it?
- Good fit: taller or larger users who want a spacious seat and tall backrest.
- Good fit: home-office users who sit for several hours most days.
- Good fit: gamers who want recline, tilt and a substantial build.
- Good fit: people who prefer breathable fabric to faux leather.
- Consider something cheaper: if you only sit at a desk occasionally.
- Consider something lighter: if you move the chair frequently or need to carry it up stairs.
Would I buy it again?
Yes.
I would still research current alternatives first because the chair is expensive, but it is difficult for me to argue with more than four years of daily comfort and essentially zero functional problems.
The biggest reason I would stay with it is simple: I already know it is comfortable for my body and my use. That matters more to me than saving money on a cheaper chair that may not work as well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the noblechairs HERO TX comfortable for tall users?
It is for me. I am 190 cm tall and around 100 kg, and I find the seat and backrest spacious with room to spare.
Has the seat sagged after four years?
I have not noticed meaningful sagging, a permanent depression or a loss of firmness. The seat feels very similar to when it was new.
Does the gas lift still work?
Yes. Mine still holds its selected height and does not slowly sink while I sit in it.
How has the TX fabric held up?
Very well in my use. I see a little lightening in heavily used areas, but no holes, loose seams or serious wear.
Is the HERO TX easy to assemble?
I assembled mine alone and managed it, but because the chair is large and heavy I think two people would make the process easier.
Are the armrests still good after four years?
They are still stable and comfortable, but the top surfaces have developed some visible ridges and are no longer perfectly smooth.
Does the chair roll well on wood flooring?
Yes in my experience. My casters still roll quietly and smoothly on a wood floor, although a protective mat may still make sense if floor wear is a concern.
Would I buy the HERO TX again?
Yes. I would compare the current market first because it is expensive, but I would happily buy another HERO TX if I did not find something clearly better.
